Custom embroidery is a decorative embellishment, usually on fabric, created with a needle and thread, usually on a computer controlled sewing matching, that depicts a graphic and/or descriptive text. A custom embroidery design is generally several thousand stitches using several different colors of thread. Although the actual sewing of the embroidery process is usually computer controlled, the art of creating the pattern, called "digitizing" will ultimately determine the end quality of the embroidery.
Detroit Stitches, located in Washington, Michigan completes all embroidery on site. Nothing outsourced! You will receive only the finest US products from Detroit Stitches.

CHENILLE Chenille, French for caterpillar or fuzzy caterpillar, is most commonly recognized as the emblems and letters sewn on letterman’s jackets. Historically, chenille has had many uses in fashion and furnishings, from delicate work of lace to the bold look of school mascots, chenille is a form of embroidery most of us recognize.
Chenille patches complement direct chainstitched garments and help to provide a classic look on a product that is made specifically to match the owner's talents and interests. Our line of chenille patches range anywhere from football to band to graduating year patches. We also offer 2 different sizes on all activity/sport patches so that you can create a look that stands out from the rest.

Heat-Transfers are a process where a highly detailed digital image is printed on to a piece of plastic coated paper and then heat-pressed directly onto the fabric of a shirt (or other garment) in order to transfer that image.
Transfers can contain any image in any combination of colors, even thousands of colors for complete Photo-Realism. If you are unsure of whether you need to place your image on a Heat-transfer or use our 4-Color Screenprinting process,

a copy of your image and we'll give you a free consultation. If you want the printed image to look exactly like your artwork and only need about 20-30 items printed or less, we would generally recommend using a Heat-Transfer.
Detroit Stitches can digitize your logo, which is necessary in order to customize your patches, shirts, jackets, etc. with your custom logo. To produce a custom design, a "digitizer" must produce a series of instructions for the computer controlled embroidery equipment to follow. A good design is the foundation of a well-done embroidery. Specialized software allows the digitizer to create the design by viewing the artwork and tell the software how to convert the image into stitches. This process requires an understanding of the different types of stitches and fabrics and how they work together as a medium and rendering. Athough digitizing software has become more sophisticated, allowing less skilled digitizers to produce designs, better designs are produced by experienced digitizers.
Proofing After a design is created, we proof each one to make sure what looks good on screen really works out as well once it's sewn on fabric. Any edits that are needed are performed and the design is resewn to make sure the changes produced the desired result.
Approval Once the design meets our standards, we send you a copy by email for your approval. Only after your approval is your order moved to production. We will ship your order to you within 7-10 days of your approval.
